Oscar Gartín (1982, Roses, Girona)

Oscar began his journey in the world of painting in 2001, a passion that led him to pursue a degree in Art and Design at the Escola Massana in Barcelona.

He started his artistic career with figurative painting, primarily using oil on canvas, with landscapes as his central theme—many inspired by the places he had visited and his home surroundings.

Upon moving to Barcelona, he began experimenting with different techniques, materials, and styles, allowing him to capture his perceptions of the new reality he was immersing himself in, diverging from his previous work. While he continued to create figurative pieces, he simultaneously delved deeper into abstraction.

The quick strokes of the spatula, brush, and various techniques and media enable him to express his relationship with the environment, of which he is both participant and observer.

Some of his works are both constructions and deconstructions, presenting fragmented paintings that have been cut, reassembled, and sewn together in new forms. These pieces mix different styles, materials, and techniques, and are part of his exploration of how urban planning and real estate speculation shape neighborhoods.

Through his work, Oscar invites the viewer on a reflective journey, encouraging an understanding of deconstruction as a process of breaking free from established models and traditions in favor of new forms of expression.
