Konair (Onergizer Konair Koler)
The Barcelona artist Konair is one of the most recognized street artists on the national scene, thanks to his iconic bitten ice lollies. At 27 years old, he has been spreading his work around the world for almost 15 years, even before he fully understood what street art—or perhaps art itself—really meant. He has forged his own peculiar conception of art, starting by painting in the streets of Barcelona, then expanding to Europe, and more recently to America, all while interacting with a huge number of artists during his travels.
For Konair, street art allows him to claim the freedom of public space. It serves as an escape valve and a way of feeling alive in a world that is diverse, morbid, and controversial.
His particular and iconic bitten ice lolly—or the bite itself—has been transformed and sometimes synthesized into an icon of international culture, as well as into various other forms with influences from pop art, surrealism, graffiti, or simply whatever inspires him from life.
He has painted alongside prestigious artists in the world of street art and graffiti, such as El Pez, El Xupet Negre, Birdie, and Kamil Escruela. He has also exhibited his work with great success in galleries and has attracted the attention of both national and international media on numerous occasions.
