Reb.MWC
Stray dogs, streetlights, and spray-can stories: fairy tales blending fact, fiction, and folly. With paint on his hands, Reb.MWC was born and raised in Thessaloniki, Hellas (Greece).
Reb began vandalizing walls before he could walk, but later pursued classical drawing and Byzantine painting. After seeing Style Wars for the first time in 1991, he shifted his focus to the graffiti phenomenon. This was followed by academic studies in graphic and architectural design, along with organizing graffiti jams, designing record covers, illustrating comics, tattoos, fanzines, and more.
In August 2002, Reb opened MWC Graffiti and Design, the only Graffiti/Street Art shop in Thessaloniki, where he served as director until 2017. Reb has participated in numerous graffiti festivals and exhibitions, including Chromopolis, Meeting of Styles, Athens Biennale, Bunte Brettl (Munich), Famagusta Film Festival, Kvadrat (Stockholm), and many more. In addition to painting schools and street walls, Reb’s work can be found on many corporate and commercial spaces, including TITAN Cement (Thessaloniki), Goethe Institute (Athens), the German School of Thessaloniki, Institut Français (Thessaloniki), Mercado de la Barceloneta, Biblioteca de Sant Adrià de Besòs (Barcelona), and more.
In October 2015, Reb completed his largest project to date at TITAN Thessaloniki, where he directed and painted a 2,500 sq/m mural on the surface of a cement plant building. This massive wall is so large it can be seen from commercial aircraft flying overhead! Currently, Reb is painting the walls of Barcelona, wishing everyone a colorful life.
The vision, aesthetic, technique, and style Reb conjures up are a blend of ideas and colors: the mentality of a graffiti writer, influenced by classic and impressionist painting; the perspective of a graphic designer, the perception of a tattoo artist, with a touch of comic art.
