Tim Marsh (1984, Paris)

Tim became passionate about extreme sports at the age of 5 and joined the roller-skating community in 1996, at the age of 12. This early interest would later influence his artwork. He practiced capoeira for 15 years, drawing much of his inspiration from this period, especially in exploring tribal motifs through his graffiti work.

In 2006, Tim transitioned into the fashion industry, becoming a trend creator for clothing brands while also directing the fashion pages of Snatch Magazine until 2011. During this time, he began developing a more personal style, expressed initially through paintings that conceptualized childhood memories. These works often featured kinetic and playful representations of iconic animals. Over time, he developed a distinctive architectural style, creating complex, dynamic geometric forms, patterns, and lines that infused movement into the depths of his two-dimensional works.

Tim’s creations evoke a theatrical mood, using a palette of retro-style colors that he applies with spray paint and Poscas. His compositions are characterized by a mix of techniques, using specific materials and mediums such as tape, stencils, and paint jars in his more recent pieces. Tim is always experimenting with new surfaces, echoing his past experiences in extreme sports by painting on skateboards, surfboards, and functional objects.

Inspired by urban spaces, Tim began to express his iconography on larger formats, painting on walls and other urban structures. In 2009, he became deeply involved in Light Painting, working with brands like L’Oréal, Smart Cars, and Kenzo, and showcasing his work in France and Malta. He currently lives and works between Paris and Barcelona, continuously experimenting and evolving his techniques.
